Contador Cycling Weekend 2012

Up and Active attended the 2nd Marcha Cicloturista Alberto Contador. With 750 riders and an increased course distance of 182km, a neutralised start withclosed roads and police outriders to look after riders, the team enjoyed the weekend's experience.

With the course in 2012 going through the finish and heading out on to a smaller second lap gave the event even more atmosphere and a feeling of true road racing like the professionals. Contador and team mates were their to support riders and sign autographs as well as present the prizes.

The girls showed the local Spanish just how strong we are, with the team taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the long event women's race.

The following day was our british Stage 2 for the weekend. We joined the local Spanish club run to continue to ride on Alberto Contador favourite cycling routes. Guided by his brother Fran Contador and stopping at a cafe for Spanish bread, oil and tomato it was a day to remember. There was something in the cafe stop, as the Spanish had been saying their legs were tired, and then suddenly cafe legs did not exist for them as the attacks began!!!
